President Bola Tinubu has secured the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after polling 10,999,967 votes in the party’s nationwide direct primary election.
Tinubu overwhelmingly defeated his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who garnered 16,504 votes across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The results were collated on Sunday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja following the conduct of the party’s direct primary election across 8,809 wards nationwide on Saturday.
A formal declaration and presentation of the certificate of return are expected to be made by the party’s Chief Returning Officer before the close of proceedings.
Tinubu recorded his highest tally in Lagos State with 814,988 votes.
He also posted strong results in Adamawa with 644,149 votes, Kaduna with 618,914 votes, Imo with 582,960 votes and Kano with 500,852 votes.
Osifo’s strongest outing came from Niger State, where he polled 5,248 votes. He also secured 2,675 votes in Kano and 2,650 votes in Bauchi State.
