Akwa Ibom 2027: All political parties’ll collapse for credible candidates – Akpabio

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio said political parties may no longer count in Akwa Ibom State come 2027 general elections as they would collapse in support of credible candidates irrespective of political platform.

Akpabio who spoke at his midterm empowerment briefing held at Ikot Ekpene township stadium on Friday insisted that there would be no political party in the state during the period.

He said for the Senate office in his Senatorial District, (Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District) all political parties have collapsed to vote for him; for the office of the governor in 2027,all political parties have collapsed to vote for governor Umo Eno while for president, the people have moved to vote for President Bola Tinubu.

He also stated that the PDP’s umbrella has been torn into shreds and can no longer protect the people.

His words, “As I speak with you there is nothing like political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again.

“For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District all political parties have collapsed to vote Senator Godswill Akpabio. For the the office of the governor in 2027,all political parties have collapsed to vote for governor Umo Eno. Akwa Ibom has moved to vote for President Bola Tinubu, Eno for governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senator Akpabio for Senate.”

The Senate President described incumbent governor Umo Eno as a man of peace and one who professed God in his heart, adding that there were people who profess God with their lips and not their hearts.

He also appreciated his wife Unoma Akpabio whom he noted has been empowering the people for his sake recalling that each time he called his wife she was either doing one empowerment or the other

On the empowerment exercise, a total of 1,690 were empowered with items ranging from mini buses, passengers tricycles, danfo tricycles, casava processing machines, generating sets, cookers and others.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the chairman of Essien Udim Local Government, Ntiedo Usoro while welcoming people to the empowerment commended the Senate president for his commitment towards empowering his people. He said even right from Akpabio’s days as commissioner, governor and now Senate President, Akpabio has remained committed to his people.
