The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of owing its staff salaries for more than a year while questioning the party’s commitment to workers’ welfare ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The council accused the ADC National Working Committee, led by Senator David Mark as chairman and former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as secretary, of failing to pay party workers despite its promises to Nigerians.

The APC campaign council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, described the alleged non-payment of salaries as unacceptable, arguing that a party seeking to govern Nigeria should demonstrate its ability to manage its own affairs and meet its obligations to workers.

He accused the ADC leadership of insincerity, saying the allegation raised questions about the party’s claims to offer Nigerians an alternative to the current administration.

Alake said: “We find it unconscionable that a political party that has made many grandiose promises to hoodwink Nigerians owes its workers for more than 12 months. Owing staff who come to work every day and who rely on the salaries for their daily sustenance is wicked and reprehensible.

“With this development, Nigerians can now see the emptiness and insincerity of those parading themselves as ‘new saviours’.

“We have clearly stated that ADC leaders and their presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, do not mean well and can do nothing for our country. Their desperation for power is driven by personal aggrandisement and venomous ill will against President Bola Tinubu. A party that cannot pay its cleaners and workforce cannot be entrusted with our country’s affairs.

The APC campaign council also targeted the ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, alleging that workers at his Gotel Communication and other businesses had previously gone months without salaries and staged protests over unpaid wages and other benefits.

It criticised Aregbesola’s record onwelfare during his eight-year tenure as governor of Osun State, alleging that his administration introduced quarter-salary and half-salary payments and left pensioners without their full entitlements for more than four years.

The council alleged that the ADC’s current salary situation reflected the same approach to workers’ welfare, although the statement did not provide documentary evidence to substantiate the claims.

It urged Nigerian workers and voters to reject the ADC and its candidates in the next general elections, arguing that a party unable to meet its obligations to its workforce should not be entrusted with managing the country.

“We are sounding a warning to Nigerians and working people now: reject ADC. Reject Atiku Abubakar and reject all ADC candidates in the next general elections,” Alake said.
