The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted screening and appeal committees for incumbent governors seeking re-election or Senate seats, alongside other governorship aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries scheduled for May 21.
In a statement issued on Friday by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the party said its National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, would chair the Screening Committee for serving governors and Senate aspirants.
The statement added that the Senate spokesman, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, would serve as secretary of the committee.
According to the party, the appeal committee for the category would be chaired by Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, while Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia would serve as secretary.
Other members of the screening panel include Sulaiman M. Argungu, Mrs. Mary Alile Idele, Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole, Ambassador Haruna Ginsau, Uguru Mathew Ofoke, Barrister Felix Morka, Muazu Bawa Rijau, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu and Chief Victor Giadom.
For other governorship aspirants, the APC named Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye as chairman of the screening committee, with Barrister Emeka Okafor serving as secretary.
Barrister Idris Shuaibu will chair the appeal committee for the category, while Barrister Ibrahim Salawu will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee are Hon. Garba Datti Muhammad, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, Senator Abubakar Maikafi, Dr. Abdullahi Dayo Israel, Hon. Hamma-Adama Ali Kumo, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko and Hajia Zainab A. Ibrahim.
The party said screening for incumbent governors and Senate aspirants would hold between Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Plateau State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
The exercise, according to the schedule released by the APC, will begin at 4 p.m. on the first day and continue at 10 a.m. on the second day.
The APC also disclosed that screening for other governorship aspirants would take place from Saturday, May 9 to Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the National Working Committee Hall of the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, beginning at 10 a.m. daily.
The party said the constitution of the committees forms part of preparations for its governorship and legislative primaries ahead of forthcoming elections.
