Dozie was Passionate about Private Sector’s Role in Economic Development

The Chief Executive Officer of BIC Consultancy Limited, Dr. Boniface Chizea, has remembered Dr. Paschal Dozie, who passed away yesterday as a Nigerian who was passionate about the role of the private sector in developing the Nigerian economy in collaboration with the public sector.

Chizea described Dozie, who was a former chairman of MTN Nigeria, as a devout Catholic who went to the seminary to be a priest, but it was not meant to be.

He said: “Dee Paschal, my friend is dead? Huuuuuum! The promoter of Diamond Bank, which ran into trouble and was acquired by Access Bank.

“A one-time Chairman of Progress Bank, Oga Paschal was passionate about the role of the private sector in developing the Nigerian economy in collaboration with the public sector.

“Dozie with the late Interim Head of State, Mr. Ernest Shonekan, along with others, championed the establishment of The Nigeria Economic Summit Group.

“I got close to him when I joined the group; first, as a rapporteur, then consultant and chairman of a sub group.

“Dr. Paschal Dozie’s memory is writ large on the tapestry of the Nigerian economy. One of his most painful experiences in life must be the takeover of Diamond Bank due to poor management despite his best efforts.

“He was my revered senior friend, and may his memory not fade. Amen. We pray for peaceful repose as we anticipate further information about this sad news. R.I.P!”
