Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (rtd.) has been appointed into the Directorate of Election Planning, Coordination, and Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
Ekong, alongside two other nominees from the state, has been saddled with the mandate to coordinate the directorate’s activities in the South-South geopolitical zone.
The other appointees from Akwa Ibom are Frank Ekpenyong and Frank Archibong Udoh, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The directorate, headed by Hon. James Faleke as Deputy Director-General is a strategic component of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, responsible for coordinating election planning, mobilisation, and monitoring structures across the country. The South-South geopolitical zone is headed by Ngozi Olejeme.
As part of their responsibilities, Ekong and the two other Akwa Ibom nominees would work with relevant state election planning and monitoring committees in the South-South zone, providing guidance and technical support to address challenges associated with mapping software, training exercises, and other Train-the-Trainer assignments.
The directorate’s responsibility is designed to strengthen electoral preparedness through effective training delivery, coordinated planning, and accurate data collection, which are key pillars of the party’s election management and mobilisation strategy.
Their appointment places Akwa Ibom representatives in a strategic position within the APC’s national campaign structure, with responsibilities that extend beyond the state to the coordination of critical electoral planning activities across the South-South zone.
