Akwa Ibom at 39: projects, gratitude and President’s visit

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared September 2026 a Month of Gratitude as the state prepares to celebrate its 39th anniversary.

The Governor announced that 39 projects will be commissioned across the state as part of the anniversary activities, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expected to visit Akwa Ibom to commission some of the projects.

Governor Eno made the announcement on Sunday, August 23, during the Victory Thanksgiving Service marking the end of the 22nd Anniversary and Discovery Convention of All Nations Christian Ministry International.

He disclosed that the 39th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service will hold on September 20 at the International Christian Worship Centre, while a State Banquet is scheduled for September 23 at ARISE Palm Resort.

The Governor urged Akwa Ibom people to dedicate the month to thanksgiving and reflection on God’s faithfulness to the state.

He also announced that the 2026 Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol will hold on December 18, with the theme, “Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men,” from Luke 2:14.

The thanksgiving service was attended by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Dr. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio; Lady Helen Eno-Obareki; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong; the Chief Judge; SSG Prince Enobong Uwah; serving and former senators, and other political, religious and community leaders.

The event marked the close of the 2026 Discovery Convention and the beginning of activities for Akwa Ibom’s 39th anniversary celebrations.
