Former Bayelsa State Governor and current Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, is expected to make a major political declaration tomorrow, Thursday, March 5, 2026.
This has raised speculation that he may formally defect to the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former governor, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member dropped the hint in a social media post he made on Wednesday.
He said, “A Major Announcement is Coming!!!
Tomorrow, Thursday, 5th March 2026, at 2:00 PM, I will be making an important statement at a Press Conference addressing the future of our people and our democracy.

The NDC, which only recently received its INEC registration certificate following a prolonged legal battle, has positioned itself as a fresh alternative to Nigeria’s existing political parties.
Barrister Reuben Egwuaba, the party’s protem National Legal Adviser, hailed the registration as “a victory not only for NDC, but for democracy, and for all Nigerians.”
Dickson’s possible defection could give the NDC significant momentum, particularly in Bayelsa State, where he maintains deep-rooted political networks.
His move may also reshape opposition dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections, challenging both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and established opposition parties.
Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri who remains a central figure in the state’s political equation had defected to the All Progressives Congress.
The announcement, scheduled for 2:00 PM at a press conference, is expected to clarify Dickson’s political future and outline his strategy for the upcoming elections.
