A Legacy of Power, Prayer, and Purpose: The Life of Rev. Dr. U.M.A. Ukpai

By Vincent Aluu

My life was forever touched in 2010 when I first met the renowned Evangelist, Rev. Dr. U.M.A. Ukpai. It was a seemingly ordinary day at Fidelity Bank on Abak Road, where I worked, yet it became extraordinary. I still vividly recall the atmosphere as he ministered to us—the bank staff—praying over each one with a fatherly authority, laying hands on us, and speaking prophetic words that resonated directly with our souls. There was a weight in the room, a divine presence, that left an indelible mark on my heart. It was an encounter I could never forget.

Yet, the most defining moment came many years later, in 2023. I had the privilege of driving my classmate, Barr. Afam Agbakor, to meet Rev. Dr. Ukpai. After their meeting, the spiritual father turned to me with eyes filled with quiet power and asked, “Don’t you want anything from God?” In that instant, I felt both the gravity and the grace of the moment. I leaned forward and whispered with all the hope in my heart, “Daddy, I want a change of level.”

His reply was simple, yet it carried a weight that shook my very being: “Go, you will receive a call from a familiar friend.” I left that room with a heart full of faith, not fully understanding how it would unfold. But, as if heaven itself had orchestrated it, that very call came. I was appointed as the Registrar of the College of Nursing Sciences, Obohia Ndoki—a position I never dreamed of. A divine shift, a long-awaited breakthrough, had finally manifested.
