The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Azare, has assured adequate security in the state ahead of the grand reception of Gov Umo Eno to the All Progressives Congress, APC, scheduled for Saturday, June 21.

Speaking during a press conference at the command headquarters, Ikot-Akpanabia, Uyo, on Thursday, the CP said the command would mobilise all personnel and sister security agencies to ensure the protection of all visitors coming to the state for the reception.

He, therefore, warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state or risk arrest and prosecution.

He said, “On Saturday June 21, 2025, we will have a lot of visitors coming in for the reception of Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, who has moved from one political party to another.

“We are going to use the total number of personnel in the command to make sure Akwa Ibom remains safe and the visitors come and go hitch free.”

It would be recalled that Eno on June 6 progressively moved from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
