Fulani terrorism against indigenous Nigeria has been progressively worsening since 2014, when Fulani terrorists from all over West and Central Africa infiltrated to destabilize the country, should General Muhammadu Buhari lose the 2015 presidential elections.
I use the term “Fulani terrorism” the same way “European imperialism” is used in scholarly, political and journalistic discourse. “Europeans imperialists” know themselves. So “Fulani terrorists” know themselves.
Fulani terrorism has led President Donald Trump of the United States (US) to describe Nigeria as a “disgraced country”. The US government has equally categorized Nigeria as “a country of particular concern”. This followed the
internationalisation of Christian genocides in Nigeria by pious Christian clerics, committed to humanity and emancipatory development.
Yet, Nigerian lumpen politicians and their desperate allies are denying the genocide. An act which must have surprised, mesmerised and humbled Lucifer himself to take lessons in the lies, greed and evil of our ruling classes; and the unshakeable confidence with which they dispute the indisputable, and deny the undeniable.
Yes, only demagogue of the Hitler-type, demented fascists of the Mussolini kind, degenerate propagandists of the Goebbels brand, chronic liars of the Ribadu class will deny that there is genocide against Christians.
Even nihilists know that Christians are daily massacred and dispersed from their lands. Their farms destroyed, businesses and properties liquidated through the payment of huge ransom, men and children slaughtered, and females repeatedly raped in farms by the terrorists!
Even the blind, deaf and dumb know that Fulani terrorists constantly invade churches, spray bullets on worshippers, set churches ablaze, and kidnap, ransom and slaughter Christian clerics and Church workers. The genocide in Nigeria is well-known, well-documented, and orally transmitted throughout the country and beyond.
Government praise-singers have been barking that Fulani terrorism and genocide are not specifically directed against Christians. They argued that Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, are generally affected. No doubt about it.
In fact, no people have been so massively massacred like the Hausa people, and this has been so since 2015.
It is in Hausaland that a Fulani terrorist told a journalist that for every Fulani person killed anywhere in Nigeria and by anybody, a hundred and twenty Hausa people will be killed in return.
It is in Sokoto State that a 45-seater bus was stopped and set ablaze by the terrorists, resulting in roasting of all Hausa passengers, including babies, children, pregnant women and the elders.
It was in Katsina State that Fulani terrorists invaded a naming ceremony of a Hausa family, took the new-born baby and threw it in a cooking pot. The parents were told to eat the flesh of their cooked baby. When they refused, they were gunned down. It is in Katsina and Zamfara States that Hausa Muslims are constantly gunned down in mosques during early morning prayers for boycotting Fulani mosques!
No where are women widowed, children orphaned, businesses bankrupted, villages and communities ghosted, seized, and taken over by terrorists more than in Hausaland.
No indigenous people have been so massively displaced and compelled to become refugees all over Nigeria like the Hausas.
Yet, the Hausas – deeply human, exceedingly hospitable, intrinsically religious, naturally GOD-conscious, highly industrious, thoroughly patient, extremely respectful, highly humble, and very submissive to constituted authorities – are largely Muslims. So truly, Muslims are most affected by the genocides.
But why are Muslims quiet over the terrorism, genocide and crimes against humanity in Nigeria? Why are Muslim clerics not internationalising the genocides against Muslims? Who and what stopped them from doing what pious Christian clerics did? There are many reasons, but I will mention just a few.
Hausas, for historical reasons, are hardly politically represented at any level and organ of government. Not even in the traditional institutions of their lands are they represented. Not even in bureaucracies and state security apparatuses of government are they represented. The Fulanis largely occupy all gladiatorial positions meant for Hausas.
Educationally, extreme obstacles were/are created for Hausas to acquire Western education. Over eighteen million Hausa children are out-of-school. Even in the religious sphere, they are not allowed to lead, no matter how intelligent and pious they are.
Similarly, virtually all the Muslim organisations are owned and controlled by Fulani clerics and aristocrats. The mosques in the North are equally led by the Fulanis, and Hausas are reduced to mere followers. The preachers are largely Fulanis, and the listeners are predominantly Hausas. In Fulani-controlled mosques and religious organisations, Fulani terrorists are referred to as “our bush Fulani brothers”.
Even Hausa identity is suppressed under the guise of “Hausa-Fulani”, “Arewa” (North), “Muslim ummah” (community), etc. El-Zakzaky, a Fulani Shiite cleric and leader, argued that Hausa is merely a language, and not a people, implying there is no Hausa people and, therefore, no Hausa history, culture, customs, values and traditions!
The Usman Dan Fodio “Jihad” of 1804-1810 laid the foundation for the Fulani domination and depersonalization of the Hausa people. British colonialism strengthened these, while military despotism solidified the exclusion of Hausas in the affairs of the state, the polity and society.
Hausa voices, cries and prayers are, therefore, hardly heard; and when heard, are either not well-articulated or deliberately misrepresented. Even the Hausa services of the BBC, Radio France International, Deutsche Wella, China Radio International, etc., are serviced by Fulani journalists. Fulanis also control most of the Hausa-speaking broadcast stations in Nigeria.
Most important are the roles of the Fulani oligarchy. Fulani aristocrats have maintained a golden silence, and at times, outrightly justified Fulani terrorism. Fulani politicians keep mute and talk from both sides of their mouths whenever Fulani terrorists are to be dealt. They openly rationalise Fulani terrorism at various levels, and in highest organs, of government.
Many Fulani intellectuals, including academics, clerics, and journalists, blame the terrorism on climate change, as if other people are not affected by it. They complain of the neglect of Fulani ‘herders’ by governments, as if governments have since 1984 ever cared for the well-being of other Nigerians. They posited that herders’ livestock have been rustled, as if the victims of the Fulani terrorists are responsible for rustling their livestock.
Besides, is it not Fulani military rulers, politicians, administrators, technocrats and elites that have been ruling and governing Hausaland? Have they not been in the forefront of controlling the Nigerian state?
The worst, most hypocritical and most disgusting wing of the oligarchy are the Fulani clerics. Most of them are incurably tribalistic, extremely intolerant, highly opportunistic, highly of manipulative, desperately money-minded, notoriously divisive, arrogantly narcissistic, and are habitual liars. They interpret the Qur’an and Hadiths mechanically and out of context. They give scandalous religious verdicts, with one of them even rationalising cannibalism.
They even attribute Fulani terrorism and genocides against the Nigerian society to an alleged Muslim departure from the path of ALMIGHTY ALLAH, including the exemplary traditions of Prophet Muhammed, upon whom be ALLAH’s peace and blessings.
They regularly preach political apathy, and psychologically disarm Muslims from decisively confronting the terrorists.
They are, in fact, the spiritual heads, leaders and spokesmen of the Fulani terrorists. Which is why they constantly call for prayers, dialogue, appeasement, compensation, and the employment of the terrorists.
How, then, can the Fulani oligarchy, who dominate and virtually control Muslim organisations in Nigeria, ever take the genocides against non-Fulani Muslims seriously? Why should pious Christians collaborate and cooperate with such characters? Why should Christians not independently internationalise the genocides in Nigeria? More so as the government has, since 2015, never shown any serious interest in containing and neutralizing the terrorists.
In any case, Christians and non-Christians are benefitting from the internationalization of by the Christian genocides in Nigeria! Nigerian Muslims should, therefore, join Christians in crying aloud against the genocides in Nigeria.
