The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise recorded 26,255 hits on its online portal by 12:35 p.m. on the first day.
The commission disclosed this in a terse statement posted on its official X handle.
INEC in a release earlier said the process would begin with the online pre-registration phase, which opened today, Monday, August 18, 2025.
It explained that eligible Nigerians can initiate their registration through the portal www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, ahead of the physical exercise scheduled to start on August 25, 2025.
The Commission noted that in-person registration would take place at its 37 state offices and the 774 local government area offices across the country to ensure easy access for prospective voters.
“The CVR exercise is open to new voters aged 18 and above, those who wish to collect or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and individuals who need to replace lost or damaged PVCs,” INEC said .
