EFCC arrests 19 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom, Cross River

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it has arrested 19 suspected internet fraudsters in both Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Oyewale said the operatives arrested 13 suspects at Atimbo and Lemna Trailer Park areas of Calabar in Cross River State and the Six others were arrested at Idoro in Akwa Ibom State for their alleged involvement in cybercrimes.

He said they were arrested in sting operations following actionable intelligence linking them with alleged internet-related fraud.

 

Oyewale says items recovered from them include: three exotic cars, 31 mobile phones and five laptops.

He added that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
